Feature
Enrich descriptions
A part list that comes out of a design tool is usually just bare part numbers, sometimes with inconsistent or missing descriptions. chip.parts turns that list into one with a standardized technical description on every line, without retyping it by hand.

Process
From bare part numbers to standardized descriptions
- 1
Bring your list
Paste MPNs directly, one per line, or upload a spreadsheet with a column of part numbers, exactly as it came out of your design tool. One part per row is all it needs.
- 2
Matching
Each part number is checked against manufacturer part numbering and open technical sources to confirm the right part, including common package and suffix variants.
- 3
Description enrichment
Matched parts come back with a full standardized technical description: component type, key electrical parameters, package, and manufacturer.
- 4
Export
Download the enriched list as an Excel file, in the same row order as your original list, so it drops back into your existing workflow instead of replacing it.
Not every part number matches cleanly on the first pass — an obsolete suffix, a distributor-specific reference, or a typo from manual entry can all get in the way. Rather than guess, chip.parts flags parts it can't confidently match, so your sourcing team checks a short list by hand instead of trusting a silent wrong match further down the line.
A "technical description" here means enough to tell one part from a similar-looking one at a glance: component type, the parameters that actually distinguish it (voltage, tolerance, package, mounting), and the manufacturer. That's the level of detail a buyer needs to confirm a substitute or a quote against, and the level a design review needs to catch a part that snuck onto the list with the wrong footprint. Parts you've already looked up come back instantly on repeat requests, so re-running a list you've submitted before doesn't cost another wait.
